Introduction to Sitar
About Introduction to Sitar

During this 10 week course, you will learn the basics of this amazing instrument and of North Indian classical music.

This course aims to teach students how to play the sitar at a basic level, learn about North Indian musical concepts such as raag (melody) and taal (rhythmic cycle), and become acquainted with the cultural and aesthetic values within which this music is embedded.

This course is designed for students to acquire the basic skills and knowledge in order to play, understand and appreciate North Indian classical music. What makes this course unique is that each student will be able to borrow his or her own sitar, to practise on at home. Students will therefore have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience of the instrument and its music, in a friendly and supportive environment.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Introduction to Sitar are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
