About Diploma in Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage
Early Polynesian settlers brought their own form of massage and it evolved to become something uniquely Hawaiian. It was practiced by everyone, from child to chief. As an indigenous practice that evolved over hundreds of years in isolated valleys throughout the island chain, there are many different “schools” of lomilomi with different approaches and techniques.
Lomi Lomi Massage has positive effects on all body systems, improves flexibility, increases injury healing, helps to release emotions, balances body and mind, decreases stress manifestations, and helps to reach clarity and relaxation.
During the treatment the practitioner applies the massage with long, flowing strokes of hands, forearms, and elbows while moving around the table. Each treatment includes soft and deep tissue pressure combined with some breath work.
Due to the amount of massage strokes using the therapists forearms and elbows this can allow of pressure to be taken of the therapist wrists and joints remain safe from overuse and injury, this also allows for a deeper pressure to be applied by the therapist leaning into a massage with their arms.
This is an advanced one day course for qualified massage Therapists wishing to develop their skills further.
