GFW’s Jamie Laval Music Extravaganza Weekend

About GFW’s Jamie Laval Music Extravaganza Weekend

Glasgow Folk-Music Workshop "Jamie Laval Music Extravaganza" kicks off the Autumn music season on 7, 8 October with a packed weekend of instruction, performances, and community tune playing.

Tickets £55 for whole weekend, reserve by emailing your contact details and dietary needs to gfwoffice@gfw.scot Payments to be made by sending a cheque or by online bank transfer.

GFW's Jamie Laval Music Extravaganza weekend has been designed around the return tour of master fiddler Jamie Laval.

Laval is currently based in the U.S. and travels internationally. His arrestingly virtuosic performances of traditional Celtic music elicit rapture and praise from audiences and critics alike. “One of the hottest fiddlers out there” (Asheville Citizen-Times), Jamie performed for Her Majesty the Queen, recorded with Dave Matthews, and presented a TED Talk.

Back by popular demand after his stunning performance last year, Laval will teach day-long workshops for expanding the scope of traditional music.

The grand finale of the weekend will be a Sunday evening concert performance in which Laval will be joined by several celebrated Glaswegian performers.

Classes commence from 11:00 pm to 4:30 pm, with community tune playing to follow and final concert on Sunday at 7:30 pm. All activities to be held at Strathclyde University Union, 90 John Street, Glasgow G1 1JH.

Please visit www.gfw.scot for complete schedule and other info.
