Former Blazin’ Fiddler Iain MacFarlane – also a mainstay of the Glenfinnan Ceilidh Band – is a leading contemporary exponent of the bagpipe-accented West Highland fiddle style, as heard on his superb solo album, 2016’s Gallop To Callop. Here he explores and celebrates the close kinship between these musical traditions and those of Donegal, in company with Altan’s Dermot Byrne on accordion, and Breabach singer-guitarist Ewan Robertson.
Young Highland singer Kim Carnie was a finalist in 2017’s Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year, before releasing debut album In her Company, a mix of Gaelic and original songs, later that year. “Velvet-voiced authority” (Scotsman)
