The One Ensemble and support

About The One Ensemble and support

The One Ensemble will perform ‘Saint Seven’ - a 45-minute piece of music that is utterly original and daringly unique. Using cello, guitar, bass clarinets, percussion and voices, they create a bold and striking music somewhere between folk, experimental and classical. It is an inventive, bold and theatrical piece that moves from stark minimalism to fullbodied and full-throated energy. The piece ends as it begins, having gone through a journey that is by turns challenging, playful, dynamic and meditative, whilst remaining accessible, engaging and absorbing throughout.

“Dazzling interplay... The One Ensemble goes from strength to strength” The Wire

"Gorgeous, twisted amalgams of European and American ethnic musics, free jazz, chamber music, minimalism and experimental plateaus rarely glimpsed in the western world" Womblife
