About Max Richter Ensemble: Woolf Works
Sorry, but this event has been and gone!
Classically trained in Edinburgh and London, electro/acoustic composer, pianist, producer and remixer Max Richter - shining examplar of Celtic Connections’ hands-across-the-genres ethos - made his early mark in the late 1990s, with the likes of Piano Circus, Future Sound of London and Roni Size.
Inspired equally by Bach, punk rock and ambient electronica, Richter has released eight trailblazing solo albums, numerous concert works, and scores or soundtracks for myriad film, theatre, dance, television, opera and conceptual art productions, including National Theatre of Scotland's mega-smash Black Watch, and movies by Martin Scorsese and Ari Folman. Woolf Works, originally commissioned by Royal Ballet choreographer Wayne MacGregor, is a three-movement evocation of Virginia Woolf’s novels, premiered at Covent Garden in 2015.
Fabulously innovative – like its source-material – yet still true to Richter’s core belief in melody, storytelling and emotional impact, tonight’s concert version was released in 2017 as Three Worlds: Music From Woolf Works, and is brought to life in Glasgow by the exhilarating world-class Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Max Richter Ensemble: Woolf Works are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
