Life-affirming Québécois quartet Le Vent du Nord are among the most universally welcome festival visitors on the planet. With their ninth album a-brewing, following rapturous plaudits for 2015’s Têtu, the fabulous Francophone foursome take the stage at Celtic Connections’ favourite rock’n’roll venue, cranking up the hurdy-gurdy – alongside fiddle, accordion, jaw harp, bass and foot-percussion, plus all-round glorious vocals – and doubtless matching the mirrorball for scintillating brilliance.
Apiary is the brand-new line-up of US fiddlers Jenna Moynihan and Katie McNally, both devotees of Scottish tradition, with Scottish counterparts Louise Bichan and Laura Wilkie, who share a love of bluegrass and old-time music: a transatlantic meeting of kindred musical passions.
