Lunasa & Special Guests

Celtic Connections: Irish instrumental five-piece Lúnasa are joined by special guest Aerialists for an evening at City Halls!

Lunasa & Special Guests

About Lunasa & Special Guests

Having followed a meteoric rise with majestic, long-reigning supremacy, Irish instrumental five-piece Lúnasa have unquestionably secured their place in Celtic music’s annals, while remaining in such demand worldwide – collectively and individually – that the chance to see them live is always a thrill. Thus we welcome back mighty founding flautist/whistle player Kevin Crawford, fiddler Seán Smyth and bassist Trevor Hutchinson, with newer colleagues Cillian Vallely, on uilleann pipes and whistles, and guitarist Ed Boyd, to carry on 2017’s 20th anniversary festivities. Rumours of an eighth studio album in production have been confirmed by the band themselves, so expect plenty of stunning new tunes, plus some very special guests.

Exponents of the term ‘prog-trad’, Aerialists draw from the wells of Nordic and Gaelic music, adding expansive post-rock textures and meticulously sculpted arrangements to create captivating, genre-defying music.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Lunasa & Special Guests are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
