A workshop for the whole family to enjoy every Saturday afternoon. Don't miss the chance to get creative and have some family fun whilst exploring our fascinating museum stores in an interactive way.
12th January: Time Capsule
Make a time capsule to store present day objects and your thoughts on the future!
19th January: Fantastic Flyers
Explore the flying creatures and machines in our collection, discover the principles of flight then construct and fly your own fantastic flying machine.
26th January: Down Under
Join us as we celebrate Australia Day at GMRC, exploring indigenous art, animals and artefacts.
2nd February: Dragons and Fables
Take a dragon themed tour around the collection then create a Chineese style paper dragon.
9th February: Paint Splash
Come to GMRC and get messy with paint to create your own modern masterpiece. Dress for mess!
16th February: Metal Masterpieces
Learn the skills of decorative metal embossing. Look at a few examples from our collection then create your own masterpiece using coloured metal foil, simple tools and a couple of basic techniques.
23rd February: Snow Flake Fun
Stay warm while have fun making snowy creatures and snowflakes on a freezing February afternoon.
2nd March: Pebble Painting
Be inspired by some of the tribal art from around the world and try your hand at making your own.
9th March: With a Hop, Skip and a Jump
Animals move in all kinds of ways – join us as we explore different animals in our natural history collection!
16th March: Balsa Wood Boats
Discover our fantastic range of ship models, then make and sail your own balsa wood yacht on our boating pond.
23rd March: Medieval Melee
Build a mini trebuchet your enemies. Gain valour and victory to become a warrior with our role playing game. Try our armour and swords if you have the courage!
30th March: Colourful Creepy Crawlies
Investigate the wonderful diversity of shape and colour in the insect world, then learn how to sculpt your own colourful creation.
Glasgow Museums welcomes families and children of all ages and all our venues are FREE to visit. Events are also FREE unless otherwise stated.
Our displays and exhibitions are designed with families in mind, so you’ll always find something interesting to explore when you visit.
