A workshop for the whole family to enjoy every Saturday afternoon. Don't miss the chance to get creative and have some family fun whilst exploring our fascinating museum stores in an interactive way.
16th March: Balsa Wood Boats
Discover our fantastic range of ship models, then make and sail your own balsa wood yacht on our boating pond.
23rd March: Medieval Melee
Build a mini trebuchet your enemies. Gain valour and victory to become a warrior with our role playing game. Try our armour and swords if you have the courage!
30th March: Colourful Creepy Crawlies
Investigate the wonderful diversity of shape and colour in the insect world, then learn how to sculpt your own colourful creation.
6th April: GMRC Badger Hunt
Do badgers hibernate? Are they the fastest burrowing animals? How many worms can they eat in a night? Find out the answers to these facts and more!
13th April: Birdfeeders and Bugs
Discover some of the local wildlife in our collection then create a habitat to encourage them to live in your garden.
20th April: Egg-stravaganza
Eggs come in all different colours and sizes! See if you can spot the biggest egg in our collection and have a go at decorating your own.
27th April: Museum Monsters
Explore the crazy creatures in our collections and create your own monster!
4th May: May the Sci-fi be with You
Come along for our Sci-fi inspired workshop, tour and quiz.
11th May: Fantastic Fans
Be inspired by the beautiful Eastern art in our collections and design your own Chinese fan.
18th May: Look at me
Discover the inventive ways artists show emotions in their art and have a go at making an expressive self-portrait.
25th May: Skeletons and Skulls
Explore our weird and wonderful collection of skulls then create your own.
1st June: Art Straw Sculptures
Be inspired by our collection and create your own 2d or 3d paper straw sculpture.
8th June: Fossil Hunters
Dig out your inner palaeontologist and join us in the collections for a fossil hunting workshop.
15th June: Beyond the Frame
Use your imagination to paint what is happening beyond the painting.
22nd June: The Art of Nature
Discover the variety of patterns and textures in our Natural History collection and create your own masterpiece.
29th June: Soap Box Derby
Be part of a team and build a soapbox racer! Then take part in the outdoor derby race!

Our displays and exhibitions are designed with families in mind, so you’ll always find something interesting to explore when you visit.
