A workshop for the whole family to enjoy every Saturday afternoon. Don't miss the chance to get creative and have some family fun whilst exploring our fascinating museum stores in an interactive way.
24th March: Deadly Dinosaurs
Travel back in time to meet and learn about the most dangerous animals to roam the planet and their surroundings!
31st March: Easter Eggs
Have a look at our collection of birds eggs then use a plastic egg and marbling ink to make your own.
7th April: Spring Challenge: Take on the Quizinator!
Pit your wits and skills against the Quizinator in our interactive tour. Solve conundrums and practical challenges to survive…or be eliminated!
14th April: A Bugs Life
Investigate the wonderful diversity of shape and colour in the insect world, then learn how to sculpt your own creation from coloured modelling medium.
21st April: Dragon Hunt
What colour is a dragon? Red, black or green? Come and be a GMRC Store Hunter to find out if you’re brave enough! Storytelling, myths and legends. Don’t forget to bring your imagination with you for one and all!
28th April: Animal Adventure
Come on an Animal Adventure with us and explore our animal collection! You will then get the chance to make you own paper animals inspired by your wild adventure.
5th May: Knight in Armour
Shields at the ready! Have a go at making your own shield.
12th May: Rock Painting
Be inspired by some of the tribal art from around the world and try your hand at making your own.
19th May: Blast Off
Calling all intrepid space explorers! Join us on our journey through the solar system, make your own rocket and create some alien slime!
26th May: Balsa Wood Boats
Discover our fantastic range of ship models, then make and sail your own balsa wood yacht on our boating pond.
2nd June: Fun with Flags
Match the country to the flag in our World Cultures Collections and see amazing world artefacts! Then afterwards design your own flag.
9th June: Embossed Armour
Take inspiration from our collection of armour then learn how to create and decorate your own armguard from coloured embossing foil using simple tools.
16th June: Tin Can Figures
A hands-on creative workshop exploring in detail the amazing sculptures of Papua New Guinean artist Tom Deko. You will have the chance to create your very own sculptures to take away with you.
23rd June: Magnificent Masks
Create your own decorated mask inspired by our international World Cultures collection.
30th June: Down By the Sea
It’s Summertime at GMRC! Join us on a multi-sensory trip to the seaside where we’ll go digging in the sand and see what seaside creatures we can find!
