January Six Week Pottery Classes

About January Six Week Pottery Classes

This creative and engaging class is taught from my studio at South Block on Osbourne Street, just around the corner from Trongate in the Merchant City.

The 6 week introduction class runs from 6:30pm – 8:30pm and the upcoming blocks are as follows:

Wednesday Evenings starting 10th January (two spaces available)

Friday Evenings starting 12th January (three spaces available)

Classes are limited to four people per class so it’s a very friendly, relaxed setting with plenty of time to ask in-depth questions about the methods and techniques used. The course is structured to teach a range of hand building methods with an emphasis on innovative surface design. It would benefit both those with a strong idea of the forms and designs the would like to make, and those who prefer more direct instruction. You will leave with a solid foundation of knowledge and skills along with several useable items such as morning bowls, mugs, vases and hanging planters.

The methods covered include coiling, pinch pots, slab building, slip inlay, sgrafitto, using stencils and stamps and applying glazes and ceramic stains. This does not include wheel throwing. This class is a creative, encouraging, introduction to working with clay whether as an enjoyable one off or as a precursor to the Intermediate class.

The course costs £135 which includes all materials, firings, teaching and tools (including use of an apron!). To reserve a place costs £40 with the rest paid at the first week.

Gift vouchers are available if you would like to book a place for someone else.

To reserve your place or if you have any questions please feel free to get in touch at jensmithceramics@gmail.com
