The Astronomical Society of Glasgow is the largest Astronomical Society in Scotland, and is dedicated to promoting an interest in Astronomy, they hold a series of public lectures through the year!

The ASG's free public lectures for the 2018-19 session are as follows, the dates and titles are shown below:

Thursday 15th November 2018: Space Resources: Engineering beyond planetary boundaries
Prof Colin McInnes, James Watt Chair, Professor of Engineering Science, University of Glasgow.

Thursday 20th December 2018: Black Holes, Black Magic and Interstellar Travel: How general relativity could help Santa span the galaxy
Prof John Brown, Astronomer Royal for Scotland, Astronomy and Astrophysics Group, University of Glasgow.

Thursday 24th January 2019: Weird Worlds: How You Can Find a Planet
The Tannahill Lecture
Prof Chris Lintott, Professor of Astrophysics. Citizen Science Lead, Department of Astrophysics, University of Oxford.

Thursday 21st March 2019: What Re-Ionised the Universe?
Prof Nial Tanvir, Lecturer in Physics and Astronomy, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Leicester.

Thursday 18th April 2019: Are we alone in the Universe?
The Leon Davies Lecture
Prof Brad Gibson, Professor of Astrophysics, Director of E.A. Milne Centre for Astrophysics, School of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, University of Hull

Thursday 16th May 2019: Mercury - the incredible shrinking planet
Dr Simon Cuthbert, Lecturer in Earth Science, University of the West of Scotland.
This lecture will be followed by the Society Annual General Meeting.

Location: Room 6.41 Royal College, Strathclyde University. Access is via the Montrose Street entrance, take the lift to Floor 3, exit the lift and take the 2nd set of steps on your left, go through the double glass doors. Room 6.41 is on your left approximately half way along the corridor. The lecture starts at 7.30pm
