Music Broth is a social enterprise and charitable organisation with an aim of improving access to musical instruments and equipment for everyone. We want to do this by establishing Scotland’s first ever Musical Instrument Library for the Community. With over 200+ items in stock, and additional services such as delivery and collection, and maintenance and repair this is the next step to creating musical opportunities for all.
We have organised a fantastic 9 day event at Good in Buchanan Galleries, Glasgow our ‘Musical Instrument Amnesty and More!’ This is part of Zero Waste Scotland’s #PassItOnWeek which is a nationwide call out for people to donate their old, unused or unwanted items so that they can get reused, repaired and put back into the community.
Music Broth are the place to donate these unused or underused musical instruments and equipment in Glasgow and we are making it a celebratory week through sharing the space at Good with lots of other social enterprises and businesses, hosting live open mic performances from some of Scotland’s best talent and lots of workshops delivered by organisations with all things music, reuse and community in mind, such as cymbal upcycling, music journalism, tuition and who doesn’t love a big singalong! We have also encouraged businesses, organisations, Music Studios and other venues to act as drop off point during #PassItOnWeek.
We welcome anyone to come and get involved with us at Music Broth. Come and attend our ‘Musical Instrument Amnesty and More!’ event this week; participate in workshops, donate musical instruments or equipment or volunteer time during our week at Good. Spread the word about Music Broth and help us develop Scotland’s very first library of musical instruments and equipment in Glasgow. #PeopleMakeGlasgow
Music Broth supports everyone who wants to pursue a musical venture. Our services have already supported musicians and bands active in the music scene, community groups, local foodbanks, youth refugee charities, individuals, and community spaces.
We believe that everyone should have easy and equitable access to musical instruments and equipment. We see the benefits involvement with music brings to people and want to encourage others to share resources within the community.
