About Repair Cafè Glasgow & Visible Mending Workshop

Repair Café Glasgow is on a mission to save your items from waste. We host monthly events in spaces across the city where people can get help to fix their broken things for free!

Do you have broken things gathering dust in your cupboard but you can't bring yourself to through them away? Our team of volunteer repairers will be on hand to help you mend your broken handheld items such as clothes, electrical and electronic items. If we can't manage to fix your items then we direct you to somewhere that can or alternatively the best place to recycle them.

This month Alis Le May from Decent Projects will be hosting a visible mending workshop using speedweves. Speedweves are perfect for darning holes and adding colour to your clothes by visibly mending your garments. Do you have a woolen jumper with holes that could use brightening up? Inject life and colour back into your clothes and join us for our visible mending workshop. Sign up for the workshop via the Eventbrite link and email us for for information. Tickets are limited so if you sign up and can't make it please let us know so your space can go to someone else.

Thank you to Bridget Harvey for allowing us to use her photo of visibly mended woollen jumpers. Bridget is a maker and mender who works with Hackney Fixers and is about to start a residency at the V&A looking at repaired garments and fashion artefacts in their collections.

Repair Café Glasgow is supported by the Climate Challenge Fund and European Regional Development Fund. The Climate Challenge Fund provides grants and support for community-led organisations to tackle climate change by running projects that reduce carbon local emissions. The European Regional Development Fund comes from the European Structural and Investment Fund which helps to facilitate major investments to support transformational change and economic and social structural reforms across Scotland.
