About Waxing Lyrical #1: Rip It Up - Vic Galloway & DJ Stephen Pastel

WAXING LYRICAL #1 : "Rip It Up : The Story Of Scottish Pop - An Evening with Vic Galloway"

Waxing Lyrical is a series of musical literary events, with authors talking about music, followed by dedicated club nights playing an accompanying soundtrack...

Rip It Up tells the story of Scottish Pop, with acclaimed author and BBC broadcaster Vic Galloway charting the rich history of Scottish music (from the beat and pop groups of the 50s & 60s, through seven decades to contemporary electronica) which accompanies the National Museum of Scotland's exhibition of the same name (running until 25th November).

This club event will be hosted by Fiona Shepherd (Glasgow Music City Tours), with Vic reading extracts from the book, followed by a Q&A, and a book signing session (stall hosted by Waterstones). At 10pm, the lights dim and the event becomes a club night, where Vic will spin some of the classic Scottish sounds featured in the discussion.

Joining the DJ line-up for the night is one of leading figures of the Scottish independent scene Stephen Pastel, who'll be delving into his extensive collection to spin a Scottish selection of post-punk, sixties-pop, classic indie and contemporary grooves - joined by Andrew Divine.

Doors open 7.30pm / Talk begins 8.00pm / Club night 10.00pm-2.00am

Tickets: £7 (STBF) in advance from Tickets Scotland, The Admiral, Monorail and WeGotTickets.com
