The computer-animated fantasy adventure film will be screened live in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall while the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, with conductor Dirk Brossé, perform Patrick Doyle’s iconic score.
The multi award-winning film will be further brought to life with solo performances from Chris Stout, Lorne MacDougall, Jim Sutherland and Jarlath Henderson, all of whom appeared on the original soundtrack.
Scotland’s own Patrick Doyle studied at the RSAMD, now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, of which he was made a fellow in 2001. Doyle has gone on to receive numerous accolades including two Academy Award nominations, two César nominations, an Ivor Novello for Henry V and a Scottish BAFTA lifetime achievement award.
Doyle is committed to giving back to Scotland and encouraging a new generation of young Scottish musicians and singers not only to appreciate their heritage but also to be proud of their own voices, native language and dialects. Brave in Concert will showcase a cast of young singers from all over Scotland performing memorable songs from the film. Young traditional instrumentalists will also be mentored by and play alongside world-class traditional musicians.
