Summer School: Make Things to Wear!

Come and learn how to create and realise your own screen-printed designs on fabric in this practical two-day course at Studio Pavilion!

Summer School: Make Things to Wear!

About Summer School: Make Things to Wear!

Would you like to create and print your own mini designer range/ textile designs?

We will start at the drawing board – sketching out designs and learning what sort of imagery works well in this context. Then we will translate our designs into paper cut stencils and finally print them all on to tote bags, t-shirts and anything else you’d like! Participants will come away with their individually designed and hand printed tote bag and T-shirt and are also encouraged to bring along any other items they would like to refresh with new designs.

Learning outcomes:
-Introduction to screen printing on textiles
-Experience creating surface designs
-Translating ideas into final products
-Using colour effectively
-Developing design skills

Day 1: On day one we will focus on developing designs – bring ideas, inspiration, and references if you have them and we will look at how to translate these into workable designs. Once we have created our designs, we will begin to translate them into stencils.

Day 2: This will be our printing day and we will work as a team to print our individual designs on to tote bags and t-shirts.

*please bring t-shirts, tops or any type of natural fabric that you would like to print on. 100% cotton is a good place to start and avoid synthetics like nylon which do not absorb the inks. Extra blank tote bags will be available to buy at cost price of £1.50

AGES 8 – 13
