Our Summer Activity Camps are based at the KA Wilderness Campus in the Cairngorms.
KA Wilderness Campus is where young people put their mobile phones to one side and instead lift their eyes to infinite possibilities around them. Where they remember that that star-gazing from a sleeping bag in the company of new friends is more satisfying than any snapchat message or YouTube video. Where there is nothing virtual about the exhilaration of jumping into a freezing mountain river.
Camp at the Wilderness Campus gives kids some distance from their identities back home, allowing them to catch their breath and consider the bigger picture of their lives. It’s why we do camp, and why we so fervently believe that youngsters of the 21st century need such a place more than ever. Our goal is to return campers to their lives back home more comfortable in their own skin, more confident and resourceful, eager to pitch in, having made fast friends with new people and having discovered truer versions of themselves. It’s a lot to reach for, we realise, but we’re convinced that teens are yearning for the chance.
Action Packed Week
The outdoors provides one of the richest and most influential learning environments, within which lifelong friendships and unforgettable moments are born. It is a wonderful opportunity to explore the Scottish Highlands on foot, abseiling and climbing as well as taking part in activities such as canoeing, gorge walking and stand-up-paddle boarding.
Evening activities will include teambuilding fun, survival skills, archery, camp fires and star gazing in a sky free of light pollution.
The Heart of the Cairngorms
Campers travel from Glasgow via minibus on Monday returning to Glasgow on Friday evening. (Kids living out with Glasgow will be collected enroute if within easy pickup access of the route or alternatively parents can drive them directly to the Lodge). All food and equipment is provided.
The Wilderness Campus is located in Strathdon on the River Don, just two miles from the Lecht Ski Centre, providing easy access to mountains, forests and glens. Set on the banks of the River Don, The Lodge offers dormitory accommodation, excellent group catering facilities and comfortable social areas.
