About Findlay Napier & Scarlett Randle at Sundown Song Nights

The event explores how broad the term 'folk song' can be from traditional ballads to indie bops.

This month's headliner is the mighty songwriter and story teller Findlay Napier supported by the mesmerising singer songwriter, Scarlett Randle.

Findlay Napier
Despite these ecumenical enthusiasms, Napier himself remains happy to identify as a folk singer – even if he does enjoy stretching the term’s already elastic parameters. “I do fit that one-guy-with-a-guitar template,” he says. “Plus, you can’t be indie when you’re nearly 40 and bald. But it’s also good fun when I’m playing to a non-folk audience: I’ll go on and say ‘Hello! I’m a folk singer. So please feel free to join in’ - you can see the fear on their faces. I like playing with other people’s stereotypes.”

Scarlett Randle
Scarlett Randle hails from the North east of Scotland but now calls Glasgow home. In the past few years she has risen through the musical ranks playing gigs around Scotland, winning the Tenement Trail new artist competition in 2018, playing at the BBC Introducing showcase in King Tut’s in December, along with TRNSMT festival, Tiree Music Festival, Off The Record at the Caird Hall in Dundee and most recently being named Artist of the Week in the Scotsman in association with AIM (Association of Independent Music)

“If you see her name, you should jump at the chance to see her live – she’s superb”. MNRP magazine.
