Orkid Studio ‘Around The World in 80 days’ Exhibition

About Orkid Studio ‘Around The World in 80 days’ Exhibition

The exhibition coincides with the UK book tour of our patron Mark Beaumont ‘s new publication ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ The book portrays Mark’s epic journey, circumnavigating the globe in a record breaking 79 days through some of the harshest conditions one man and his bike can endure.

This theme has been given out to artists across the country, and each have created stunning pieces based on their own travels

The exhibition is being curated by Rosemary Beaton, and the list of participating artists reads like a who’s who of the best Scottish talent.

Rosemary Beaton, June Carey, Alison Harper, James S Davis, Karen Strang, Ian McNicol, Jackie Anderson, Ruth Scott, Emma Davis, Sandra Moffat, Lesley Burr, Bill Alexander, Lesley Banks, Gregor Smith, Norman Sutton, Noreen Bissland, Elaine Clarke, Heather Nevay, Jimmy MacKellar, Ashley Cook, Deborah Campbell, Pascale Steenkiste and Shona Kinloch

Entrance is free and at least 50% of all art for sale will go towards finishing the Sachibondu Hospital Campus in Zambia, designed and built by Orkidstudio.

With roots in the UK, Kenya and Uganda, Orkidstudio was founded in 2008 by James Mitchell and Julissa Kiyenje during the construction of the Mukono Community Kitchen in Uganda, on the simple belief that architecture can inspire change for people and communities. Since then, we have gone on to deliver projects worldwide, working closely with the communities we serve. Our base is now in Nairobi, with 80% of our team being Kenyan, and we work across East Africa and Zambia.

Entrance to the exhibition is free.
