About Tom Sachs ‘A Space Program’ UK Premiere

Sachs’ fetishisation for the Apollo missions of the 60s and 70s culminated two exhibitions; ‘Space Program’ (2007) and ‘Space Program 2.0: MARS’ (2012), which saw him constructing a to-size model of the Apollo Lunar module, strapping in two Tyvek spacesuit-clad astronauts and making a hypothetical trip to Mars. The film, directed by Van Neistat, explores this handmade endeavour, providing a visual blueprint of Sachs' methods and techniques.

This showing was made possible through collaboration with young artist Connall Bonner, disappointed by the fact the film only received big screen treatment in America. He decided to contact Sachs directly and obtained screening permission from the man himself!

Film starts: 1930
Film ends: 2045
