Be introduced to the magic of Eco Printing and Natural dyes by Elisabeth Viguie Culshaw in her beautiful Victorian Studio in the West end of Glasgow and produce some unique prints on both paper and cloth.

This workshop is perfect for textile and multi media artists as well as patchwork lovers and embroiderers. You can be a perfect beginner with an aim to learn the technique as well as a more advance participant.

Elisabeth will introduce you to the practise of Eco Printing, from the preparation of the material (scouring and mordanting) to the printing process.

You will produce a number of pieces over two days using different variations and botanical. She will introduce some local and readily available eco dyes like onion skins and turmeric as well as some more sophisticated ones like the pink Sapanwood and the blue Logwood.

You will leave with a good selection of good size samples to incorporate in your work, frame or stitch onto.

You can expect:

to be introduced to the technique and be given some recipes

to work with at least 2 natural dyes

to produce at least 5 good size pieces of work and be offered the opportunity to print a silk scarf (at additional cost).

to work on cotton, linen, wool, paper of different kind

In the fee are included all material used over the two days as well as a sandwich lunch, teas and coffees as well as sweet treats, and a small starter pack for you to have another go at home.

Elisabeth Viguie Culshaw is an Eco Upcycler concentrating her work on the techniques of Eco Printing and Natural dyes. She currently works on a community project in Glasgow involving the public called "Printing in Woodlands".

She trains with the best and this year her own training involved a workshop with Israeli artist Irit Dullman. She runs a studio in the West end of Glasgow and is widely involved with the local community.
