New Focus Quartet

About New Focus Quartet

Konrad Wiszniewski and Euan Stevenson’s New Focus is one of the most appealing, most beautifully realised projects to emerge on the Scottish jazz scene in recent years.

Originally conceived as a fiftieth anniversary tribute to saxophone giant Stan Getz’s 1961 classic ‘with strings’ album, Focus, the group has developed a style all of its own, with Scottish folk nuances as well as a driving, exciting momentum.

Showcasing Scottish National Jazz Orchestra saxophone star Wiszniewski’s ravishing tone and inventive, soulfully communicative playing and Stevenson’s elegant, coolly considered pianism, their compositions ooze melodic richness and possess a flowing, cinematic quality.

They arrive at the Crypt direct from two nights at Ronnie Scott’s and will feature music from their recently released second album for Whirlwind Recordings, New Focus On Song, as well as its Scottish Album of the Year-shortlisted predecessor and possibly one or two surprise choices of covers.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for New Focus Quartet are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
