Brodick Country Park on the Isle of Arran is welcoming first-time foragers to join fungi expert Graeme Walker from Scottish Natural Heritage on a toadstool trek on Sunday 29 September!
About Fungi Foray
Sorry, but this event has been and gone!
Hosted by conservation charity, the National Trust for Scotland, the afternoon of foraging will reveal how to identify species of fungi and harvest wild foods. Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn fascinating facts about the fungi growing on the island and curious foodies can also enjoy a wild mushroom fry-up.
Kate Sampson, Head Ranger at Brodick Country Park, said: “Foraging is a fantastic way to spend time outdoors connecting with nature and learning more about wild food. The grounds of Brodick Castle are home to an abundance of trees and woodland, which provide perfect conditions for fungi to grow.
“We want to show that forging is accessible for everyone and hope that our fungi-foray will offer visitors a totally unique experience and spark interest in the fantastic world of fungi”
No bookings required. The walk will last for approximately two hours starting at 1:30pm at Brodick Castle’s Woodland Café, and tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s.
With acres of thick woodlands, luscious gardens and island charm aplenty, the National Trust for Scotland protected Brodick Castle on Arran is the perfect backdrop for a nature-loving day out.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Fungi Foray are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
