From the 30th November 2019 to the 5th January 2020, Websters Theatre, Glasgow, will be home to Insideout Theatre Productions Ltd’s family pantomime ‘The Pure Amazing Wiz of Oz’. The Glasgow based production company are bringing another of their hilarious and inimitable Christmas spectaculars to one of Glasgow’s newest theatres for this year’s festive season. This is the sixth original pantomime the company has presented at the theatre!
Insideout Theatre Productions Ltd, who regularly produce musicals (‘Little Shop of Horrors’; ‘Company’; ‘I Will Survive’; ‘Girls Night OOT!’) and cabaret nights (‘Broadway in the Bar’; ‘Divas Unleashed’; ‘Best of Broadway’) all across Scotland, have been producing the annual pantomime at Websters Theatre since the venue fully opened in 2014. The company’s previous pantomimes at the theatre, ‘Aladdin’ (2014), ‘A Belter of a Cinderella Story’ (2015), ‘Snow White and the Seven Wee Muppets’ (2016), ‘Jackie and the Baked Bean Stock’ (2017) and ‘Britney and the Beast’’ (2018), were met with acclaim from audiences and critics alike, performing to sell out crowds and standing ovations. This year, audiences can expect another classic festive tale with a twist for all the family to enjoy together! A show full of dazzling characters, hilarious gags, great music and stunning singing.
The cast this year features the return of the incredible Neil Thomas who is hugely popular with the audience at the venue, having previously starred as Widow Twankey in ‘Aladdin’, Lady Marmite in ‘Snow White and the Seven Wee Muppets’, Endora in ‘Jackie and the Baked Bean Stock’ and Nanny Nonsense in Britney and the Beast’. Also returning to the venue this year is Alessandro Sanguigni, Claire Hubsmith and Lee Reynolds. Completing the cast and making her debut at this venue is Melissa Davie.
Neil Thomas, who is playing The Wicked Witch of the Westend, says: “I’m so excited to be returning to Websters Theatre for my 5th year as a Panto Dame at the venue! I love the venue, the amazing audiences that come to see us and all the friends I’ve made there over the years. I always have the best Christmas time working with Insideout Theatre Productions on their Pantos and this time around I’m getting to be a baddie for the second time. There’s quite a few familiar faces returning to Websters for this year’s Panto, so it’ll be nice to be reunited with them for festive fun. And I’m excited to meet and work with the amazing Melissa Davie as she makes her Websters debut! Grab your tickets and come along and see us this Christmas, whether you do every year so far or if it’s your first time, you won’t regret it! We always have the best time and have built up the most amazing loyal audience! See you there!’
Tickets are on sale now and are selling fast, as Artistic Director of Insideout Theatre Productions Ltd, Paul Harper-Swan says: “It’s fantastic to be back at Websters Theatre this year with our pantomime! As always, we have a first-class cast and a terrific fun show ready to entertain audiences in Glasgow for Christmas. Tickets are selling very fast following the success the shows have had in previous years at the theatre, so get in fast so that you don’t miss out!”
