Mastering the magic ring and working in the round are essential crochet skills. They open up a whole other world of crochet possibilities and projects that can’t be made in rows, like granny squares, flowers, toys . . .

In this beginners workshop we’ll have a go at making the tiniest nesting bowl in this set of 3, as I take you through the basics of crocheting in the round, how to increase and change colour if you’re feeling brave enough!

This workshop is ideal for beginners, anyone’s who’s only ever crocheted in rows, if you just need a reminder of how it’s done, or you just fancy some social crochet.

We’ll provide a crochet hook which you can use on the day and take away to practice your new skills and complete the set of bowls at home.

What you need to bring:

I think it’s important when you’re making anything, to love what you’re making it with and that’s why I’m asking you to choose and bring your own yarn along for this workshop. You’ll need a chunky or super-chunky yarn that recommends 7-8mm pins/ hook. You’ll need 50g each of 3 different colours to make all 3 nesting bowls. DON’T be tempted to buy a finer yarn and work with 2 strands (especially absolute beginners)!

Buy yarn locally from Threads, Dumbarton or Susie’s Wool Shop, Alexandria, John Lewis in Glasgow or online suppliers. I used Drops Andes from Wool Warehouse online.

Taking this class is Sharon from Sew Silly Lily, a graduate of Glasgow School or Art with a lifelong passion for textiles, craft and design.

Additional Dates: 27 February 2020
