An exciting opportunity to join Dovecot Studios Master Weavers Naomi Robertson and Emma Jo Webster for an exclusive weaving masterclass at Edinburgh Park, a new cultural destination in the west of the city. It is a rare chance to learn the art of tapestry with weavers from one of the world’s leading tapestry studios.
Aimed at absolute beginners, the workshop will introduce traditional materials of a cotton warp and wool weft, as well as the basic skills involved in creating a woven tapestry. Experimenting with a range of techniques, you will receive expert tuition. This tapestry weaving workshop takes place alongside Dovecot and Edinburgh Park’s major commission ‘Minerva Protects Pax from Mars’ based on a work by Leon Kossoff, which hangs in the main building. You will also have an opportunity to hear how the Edinburgh Park commission was created and to sit back and admire the masterpiece with a hot drink from the renowned Patina Restaurant & Bakery.
Location: 2 Airborne Place, 1 New Park Square, Edinburgh Park, Edinburgh EH12 9GR
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
