The African Caribbean Centre (ACC) with its space at street level AND basement as well as a professionally installed stage, is fast becoming Glasgow’s prime venue of choice for African & Caribbean cultural events. In recent months we've hosted reggae nights, open mic nights, and we've attracted big names like Marcia Griffiths, Dawn Penn, Misty in Roots and the Congos. It is rare to attend one of our events and not find the venue packed out.
We do it well but we're not just a music venue. Through the development of the African Caribbean Centre we work together to promote our cultures and develop a variety of services for 10,000 people of African, Caribbean, Arab, Latin American & Afro-Scottish descent living in Glasgow.
The ACC is a space for cultural, educational, social enterprise development, advice and self-help opportunities for all Glasgow’s 40+ African and Caribbean communities.
Eventually we hope to offer an African café/restaurant – operated as a social enterprise by A&CN member groups. Other ideas include a children's cinema.
