It is co-owned by Leanne Brown and Jasmine Stenhouse, who met at Stirling University and graduated in 2016 with a degree in English. It was conceived as a total pipe dream over a boozy lunch where they lamented their lack of inspiring career prospects. Lunch lasted til 8pm and culminated in a tipsy trip to Waterstones to buy a book on business. It took more than two years of planning, but our doors opened on 14th September 2020.

The Book Nook is intended to be a casual and cosy space for people across all stages of life to immerse themselves in the comfort of fictional stories with a good cuppa. We sell a selection of handpicked new and secondhand books at reasonable prices, with a specific focus on fiction for both children and adults. Our cafe serves freshly made toasted bagels, homemade cakes baked by our in-house baker, and hot drinks. There’s a variety of seating in the shop to suit everyone – so whether you are studying, working, chatting, people watching, or reading, there’s a spot for you!
