With Scotland’s worst weather records set to reach new heights this summer, Go Ape is urging the country not to be deterred from exploring Scotland’s great outdoors and sharing adventures with family and friends.
New research from the UK’s leading outdoor forest adventure has revealed that children in Scotland will spend a staggering 88 hours and 6 minutes of the summer holidays staring at a screen.*
The Go Ape findings also uncovered a generation of children are missing out on traditional outdoor activities like building a den, climbing trees, flying kites and making daisy chains.
This summer Go Ape is encouraging everyone to #ShareAdventure. Its new ‘adventure generator’ www.shareadventure.co.uk has been designed to inspire people of all ages to share adventures with one another.
Go Ape offers an unrivalled experience of flying down zip wires, leaping off Tarzan swings and navigating obstacles, crossings and rope bridges, whilst enjoying some of Scotland’s most breath-taking scenery.
There are three unique Go Ape courses located across Scotland, each featuring a Tree Top Adventure.
• Go Ape Aberfoyle in Stirlingshire, located in Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, is zip wire heaven and home to two of Britain’s longest zip wires, each stretching over 400m long, flying people 150 feet above the ground and over a 90 foot waterfall.
• Go Ape Peebles is built on the hillside within the beautiful Glentress Forest and takes advantage of the valley for some jaw dropping exposure and features the highest zip in the country, located above a magnificent reservoir.
• Go Ape Crathes Castle in Aberdeenshire is located in the historic grounds of the castle and features the epic skateboard zip wire. With fairytale-like turrets, great yew hedges and colourful herbaceous borders, Crathes Castle’s 595 acre estate offers a fantastic day out.
Go Ape prices range from £31 for a gorilla (aged 16 and over) to £25 for a baboon (aged 10 to 15). For further information and to book a Go Ape adventure please visit www.goape.co.uk
*The summer holiday timeframe constitutes a 6 week period.
