The two-day event saw an array of food and drink suppliers, plus a packed line-up of live music, entertainment, cookery demos and activities for people of all ages. There was something to cater to all tastes, with everything from cheese, meats, seafood, locally-brewed ales, Scottish spirits, home baking and more.
McIntosh of Strathmore were once again sponsors of the event, and their haggis-eating competition and mascot, Mr Macaroni, proved popular additions to the festival. Other activities that proved a hit with festival goers were Animal Man’s Mini Zoo; wild food and drink walks with one of Scotland’s most experience foragers, Monica Wilde; and a variety of live music including local singer songwriters, chart hits with YOUR Radio’s roadshow, and infectious beats from Scotland’s premier tribal band, Clann An Drumma.
Kat Kennedy, event organiser said, “We have been delighted with the number of visitors who joined us this weekend and soaked up the festival atmosphere. We not only love providing a great free event for everyone to enjoy but we are also avid supports of small food and drink producers and this event offers them the chance to showcase their products to a huge audience in one of Scotland’s most iconic locations.”
Clare Gemmell, General Manager at Loch Lomond Shores said, “This has been a fantastic event and having over 30,000 visit our award-winning attraction over the weekend is just tremendous. Customer comments have been very positive and it has been great to see so many people enjoying everything that Loch Lomond Shores has to offer."
The festival is also part of the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design in 2016, which will shine a spotlight on Scotland’s achievements in innovation, architecture and design through a wide-ranging variety of new and existing activity designed for locals and visitors to Scotland to discover and enjoy. The festival celebrates innovation in cooking techniques and is embracing digital technology, with many of the activities being filmed and streamed live through social media channels over the weekend.
