The tour of War Horse coincides with the Centenary commemorations of the end of the First World War and follows the production’s enormously successful tour of the UK and Ireland in 2013 - 2014.
Last week, the life-size equine puppet from War Horse will made a special appearance after participating in a puppetry demonstration in the Lomond Auditorium, SEC to a specially invited audience. The event included a talk about the history of the show from War Horse's assistant puppetry director, Matthew Forbes.
War Horse is the powerful story of a young boy called Albert and his beloved horse, Joey, who has been requisitioned to fight for the British in World War I. Caught in enemy crossfire, Joey ends up serving on both sides during the war before landing in No Man's Land, while Albert, not old enough to enlist, embarks on a treacherous mission to find his horse and bring him home. A remarkable tale of courage, loyalty and friendship, War Horse features ground-breaking puppetry work by South Africa's Handspring Puppet Company, which brings breathing and galloping horses to life on stage.
Tickets which are already on sale and galloping away are priced £14.20 - £69.25 (inc. admin fee).
