The September weekend has been and gone and the countdown to the festive season has officially started. Scottish Youth Theatre has something very special in store for very young children - a winter show with a topical storyline which will keep wee ones educated and entertained. ‘Sno Snow! tackles the subject of global warming and the erratic weather we have all become accustomed to these days.
The show’s main character CJ lives in the Highlands... one of the best places to live in the world!
There’s lots of cool places to play and hills for running up and down and up and down. And in December, when there is snow, it is even better!
But this December is different... and not in a good way. Why? Because it hasn’t snowed!
How is CJ going to ski or sledge or build snowmen when there’s no snow?
Creative Producer, Mahri Reilly explains why SYT chose this storyline; “From our past productions, we have seen how successful using early years theatre as a fun learning experience can be. We also wanted to refresh the format of our Festive Shows a wee bit to keep it fresh and new. So this led us to the idea of ‘Sno Snow!, which asks why a snowy Christmas has become a thing of the past”.
When asked what makes the show perfect for very young children aged 3 – 7, Mahri explains: “The performance is interactive and the audience will be totally immersed in the fun. They wont just be sitting watching the story – they will be part of the story”
‘Sno Snow! is being performed on selected dates 1 – 30 December at SYT’s base, The Old Sheriff Court, 105 Brunswick Street, Glasgow, G1 1TF. Tickets are available from their website www.scottishyouththeatre.org
