Princes Square will be part of the GLA’s campaign to bring together and promote the best attractions in the city to both locals and visitors.
Princes Square is Glasgow’s leading speciality shopping destination with a mix of over 30 retail stores ranging from jewellery to homeware including: Kate Spade; Links of London; Bo Concept and Karen Millen. With over 12 restaurants, bars and cafes, the most recent addition was boutique cinema, Everyman – showing current releases to cult classics. Last year Princes Square celebrated 30 years of business and in 2016 was voted Scotland’s Favourite Building – as voted by the general public as part of the Festival of Architecture 2016.
Katie Moody, Princes Square, said: “Princes Square’s award-winning architecture and unique mix of retail and leisure has made it a ‘must visit’ for Glaswegians and visitors to the city for over 30 years. Its mix of restaurants, bars and cafes, coupled with the stunning Everyman boutique cinema – the first in Scotland – continues to be a draw for those looking for a place that can be both relaxing and buzzing at the same time. Playing a big part in Glasgow’s reputation as one of the UK’s top shopping destinations, Princes Square is also home to some of the most desirable fashion and lifestyle brands in the city, as the recent decision from the aspirational Kate Spade New York to add Glasgow to its list of global locations that include Paris, Tokyo and, of course, New York proves.”
The news follows the announcement last month of two new members – Clydeside Distillery and Glasgow Taxis. GLA are aiming to grow their membership further during 2019, Anne Mulhern, Chair of GLA, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Princes Square on board. It’s a much-loved attraction for both locals and tourists and one of the most visited attractions in the city. GLA continues to go from strength to strength and we look forward to collaborating with Princes Square on activity for the year ahead.”
