A perfect workshop for learning the tricks of the trade... over 8 Tuesday or Thursday evenings! A total of 24 hours. This is a great course to get you into Up-Cycling.
With over 20 years of Up-cycling practise I will wake you to the world of transforming aged furniture using low cost ingredients. Far from working with exclusive and expensive chalk paint, or all in one paints I will teach you how to understand paints, varnishes and waxes to achieve a lot with what you have in the garage.
Distressing, Antiquing, Chalk Paint, Crackle Paint are some of the many techniques you can use at low cost to revamp your tired any piece of furniture or small object... During this 8 sessions class you will be taught how to use standard household paint and brushes to give a new identity to your tired furniture.
You will work on your own piece during the 8 sessions, a small table or box or chair is perfect... a too large piece does not allow you to learn a lot it makes you spend ages priming it.... please check my face book page for photos of previous participants...
Between the sessions you can leave your piece in my studio... we learn a lot of different techniques from stencilling to decoupage, textured stencilling etc... you will also learn from your other 5 fellow up cyclers. The class is very vibrant and you spend the 8 evening within a little community of like minded people... some participants sign up on my class session after session. You will make serious friendship doing amazing work... Someone mentioned recently she felt up cycling that way was like ... meditating... its so relaxing !
You will be welcomed in my studio by a fresh cup of coffee/tea or good old Scottish water at each session and during the session we will have a technical session when you will learn a new skill which you may chose to incorporate in your work. The rest of the time you will work at developing your own style on your own piece with my guidance.
