10th March: Exploring Glasgow’s Ancient Egyptian Collections
Glasgow’s Ancient Egyptian collection covers over 3000 years of the history of this amazing civilization. We will explore some of the hidden gems of our collection.

17th March: Glasgow Suffragettes and Suffragists
Discover the stories of Glasgow suffragettes and women suffragists in the campaigns to win the vote for women through a selection of fascinating artefacts from the early 1900s.

24th March: Ship Models in Detail
This tour lets you get close to some of our finest ship models, allowing plenty of time to look at construction and detail.

31st March: Sustainable Fashion: Recycling Georgian fabrics
Historically clothing was not cheap, so fabrics were often reused. Discover examples of silks originally woven during the 1700s that were made and remade into items of clothing over the following 150 years.

7th April: Handloom Weavers and the 1820 Radical Rising
To mark the 200th anniversary of the 1820 Radical Rising this tour looks at the handloom weavers’ daily life and the long legacy of the insurrection.

14th April: Facets of the Dreaming: Australian Aboriginal Art
First Australians have lived in harmony with their land for thousands of years. This tour explores the special relationship between Australia’s original inhabitants and their country through their stories and their art.

21st April: Earth Day Tour
Celebrate Earth Day with a tour of Glasgow Museums’ geology collections. Explore the amazing rocks that make up the Earth. How do they form and how has the Earth changed over time?

28th April: A Botanical World Tour
Take a tour of the herbarium collection to see a diverse range of plants from around the world and learn about the activities of the associated collectors.

5th May: Glasgow and Slavery
This tour reveals objects connected to Glasgow’s part in slavery from the 1600s to the 1800s. See old maps and prints, portrait paintings and the personal possessions and everyday goods which once adorned Glaswegians.

12th May: Sustainable Fashion: Thrifty clothing during WWII
Discover how restrictions placed on fabric during WWII led to rationing, utility clothing and the ‘Make Do and Mend’ campaign that resulted in thifty and more sustainable fashions during the 1940s and early 1950s.

19th May: Portraits Tour
To mark Learning Disability Awareness Week 2020, a group of renowned learning disability artists take you on a tour of their favourite portraits.

26th May: Highlights of the British Art Collection
View fascinating paintings from the British art collection, including a portrait of Glasgow artist and theatre designer Muriel Sterling, who was a teacher at Laurel Bank School in the West End and an ambulance driver in WW II.

2nd June: Sustainable Fashion: Adaptable and altered Victorian dresses
Victorian fashions may seem impractical with their large crinolines and bustles but some surviving examples reveal they were adapted by thrifty wearers!

23rd June: People Who Donated Our Paintings
Some of the paintings currently stored at GMRC were donated to Glasgow Museums in the 1800s. The donors came from all walks of life. Hear some of their stories beside the paintings they donated.

21st July: Ship Models in Detail
This tour lets you get close to some of our finest ship models, allowing plenty of time to look at construction and detail.

28th July: Roman Coins: Power and propaganda
Explore the Roman coin collection and discover some of the events and personalities that shaped their design and key messages.

11th August: Feathered Friends
Come for a flying visit through Glasgow Museums’ historic bird collection to see familiar feathered friends from Britain plus more exotic species from all across the world.

18th August: European Jewellery
Discover glorious Georgian gems, complex Celtic designs, and much more on this tour of a seldom seen part of the collection.

25th August: The Progression of Projectiles
Investigate our Arms & Armour collection to see how human beings have progressed from the thrown rock to firearms.
