Master basic jewellery making skills to make striking necklaces and earrings from plastic bottle tops. Repurpose everyday plastic waste into bold and beautiful statement jewellery.
Plastic bottle caps are one of the items most frequently washed up onto the world's shores. It is still difficult to find definitive information about whether to put bottle caps into the same plastic recycling box as plastic bottles as they are made from a different plastic polymer to that of a bottle, the two supposedly couldn’t be recycled together. Many Councils have told us to separate caps from bottles including Glasgow. However, according to a 2018 report from plastic recycling charity Recycling Of Used Plastics Limited (RECOUP), "...plastic caps should be left on plastic bottles for recycling."
This confusion means that the number of littered plastic bottle tops in our communities is still a big problem and their creative reuse is one way that we can reduce the negative environmental impact of this. In our plastic jewellery workshop, we guarantee you'll have lots of fun melting colourful bottle tops and giving them a new lease of life as distinctive and head-turning necklaces and earrings.
If you do have any plastic bottle tops, please bring them to us in store.Their uses are endless and we greatly enjoy playing with them!
