Glasgow Social Cycle Rides - The Clyde And Its Bridges
Join Sustrans Scotland on one of their regular rides around Glasgow, led by trained Sustrans volunteers! On Saturday 7th May they'll take you on a tour of the Clyde Bridges!
About Glasgow Social Cycle Rides - The Clyde And Its Bridges
The Clyde and its bridges will take you along the many bridges that cross the Clyde river in Glasgow. Explore the history of Glasgow with us on our free guided cycle ride led by trained Sustrans volunteers and done at a leisurely/social pace.
We will meet at the area by the bicycle racks to the right of the entrance of the Riverside Museum.
Please arrive at 10:45am for starting at 11am.
We estimate the ride will take about 2 hours with a few breaks inbetween.
Pre-booking for this ride is essential.
Further information:
- You will need to bring your own bike and make sure it is in good working order (or one from a hire bike scheme like NextBike - see more below)
- The ride is suitable for most types of riders although the distance does mean a moderate level of fitness is required
- The ride will be at a leisurely pace in order to accommodate all riders
- The ride is led and supervised by qualified Sustrans cycle ride leaders at all times
- The ride is mainly on traffic free paths
- The ride follows National Cycle Network (NCN) Routes 7 and 75
- There will be a comfort break at roughly the halfway point at the Cunigar Loop for a lunch break
- Please bring weather-appropriate clothing, snacks, water, and your lunch as there may not be anywhere to stop and purchase lunch.
There are plenty of OVO NextBikes to hire (should you need one) around Glasgow. For more information, please visit: www.nextbike.co.uk and zoom into the area you would like to hire from. The closest NextBike station to the Riverside Museum is outside the Museum itself (Station number: 8416), Partick (8423), Kelvingrove Art Gallery (8420), and the Scottish Event Campus (8415).
This ride is part of a series of social rides to explore the traffic free paths around Glasgow. The rides will be a friendly way to get out on your bike and meet new people.
