Continuing our support for local artists, the Variety Bar is proud to announce the launch of our latest exhibition this evening by Beppy Art.
Beppy Art? Beppy art? Beppy art?
Beppy art is actually, really (shh, don’t tell anyone) Becky Art - so named by the precocious one year old niece of artist Becky Paul. A Glasgow-based illustrator who wants the art she creates to match the personality she has, Becky has always loved the unique, influential, historic architecture that makes Glasgow, Glasgow. It’s a city that wears its character on its sleeve and whether you’re overhearing an intense debate about the football or watching misguided American tourists explore GlasGOW, there’s always an emotion to be felt across the city. So what better way to celebrate those emotions than with the emotionally stunted fake-birds that also wear their character on their sleeves.
‘Glasgow. Ostriches, and Ostriches in Glasgow’
Made with ink, watercolours, pencils and confusion, the Ostriches in Glasgow series ultimately combines two of Becky’s favourite things – weird-looking beasts and the city she loves so much.
So scream, laugh, love or hate the pieces and comment when you can on Instagram, @beppy_art
