This is a one day workshop to learn simple Eco Printing and Natural dyes to create unique personalised cloth for patchwork, embroidery etc.
About this Event
During this one day workshop in my lovely West end of Glasgow Eco studio you will get to grips with using the techniques of Eco Printing and simple natural dyeing to create small sections of patterned cloth perfect for Textile Art.
We will use local leaves and widely available natural dyes (such as onion skins) and a simple mordant and mainly cellulose recycled cloth (cotton, linen) with a steaming and boiling process.
We will go through the preparing process and produce some bundles. We will use a paper resist to create a by-print (useful in multimedia work).
All your work will be yours to keep (a minimum of three bundles) and you will leave with a new technique to explore further . You will be given the opportunity to take away a starter pack to continue exploring at home.
All material included on the day, simple sandwich and fruit lunch, tea and coffee will be included in the price.
My studio is based in the West end of Glasgow easily reachable. It is close to the motorway into Glasgow as well as the local public transport (Glasgow Subway and buses), there is parking (although pay by meter).
We will not work with protein fiber (silk/wool) on that day. I have a specific course for silk printing.
