Join us for a therapeutic textiles class which will give you a relaxing experience while learning a new skill. All are welcome!
“I'm delighted to be working alongside the Hub as part of their programme of events and workshops focusing on health and wellbeing.
I've been playing with textiles for as long as I can remember and there isn't a day goes by when I'm not creating something or thinking about it. I've spent the last twenty years coping with chronic nerve pain, six of which forced me to put my fabrics, needles and threads away. But I decided life's too short, pain killers can't be the long-term answer and I now use my craft as a total distraction and a way to take my mind off the things I don't want to think about.” - Sharon, from Sew Silly Lily
Put your worries to the back of your mind for a couple of hours and focus on stabbing some wool fibre with a big jaggy needle. Needle felting is a repetitive process and strangely therapeutic. In this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of this simple technique and create your own needle felted picture.
The cost of the workshop includes all materials.
This workshop is suitable for anyone who wants to give needle felting a go; but especially those who'd like to try distraction as a coping strategy.
Taking this class is Sharon from Sew Silly Lily, a graduate of Glasgow School or Art with a lifelong passion for textiles, craft and design.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Textile Therapy: Needle Felted Pictures are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
