This session will look at the impact social media has on individuals, communities and organisations, the latest trends in social media and how social media can become an addiction. We will then explore how social media can be used sensibly and the benefits of having an online footprint despite the negatives that come with the world of social media.
Our Presenter is Anum Mahmood. She has a degree in Media and Communications, and works for Police Scotland as a communications officer. This has allowed her to look at how social media can be used to reduce and solve crime, working on various areas such as child sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
Anum continues to do freelance work delivering workshops to charities and organisations on all things social. From creating social strategies to how social media can impact their organisation and staff. She also carries out successful two-part workshops for teens and their parents/guardians on how social media can impact their lives and how to stay safe online.
