About Online Tours of Mackintosh Queen’s Cross

The Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society were due to launch internal tours of Mackintosh Queen's Cross in Spring 2020, however due to the building being closed due the ongoing implications of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is something we have sadly had to postpone until later in the year.

In light of this, we have come up with a way for visitors to explore the building from the conform of their own homes! Please join us for this online video tour of Mackintosh Queen's Cross which has been developed by volunteers and staff members. All ticket donations go towards the maintenance of the building and preservation of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society.

Mackintosh Queen's Cross is the only church building ever designed by Mackintosh that was ever actually built. Though no longer a working church, Mackintosh Queen's Cross remains one of the most authentic and unaltered Mackintosh buildings still to exist.

During this 17 minute video tour, you will be guided around the building to view Mackintosh's subtle yet unmistakable designs, from beautiful wood and stone carvings to stained glass and his clever play on light and dark.

You'll also learn about the building's hidden histories and where it fits within Mackintosh's career, introducing you to his progression as an architect, designer and artist. Many aspects of Mackintosh Queen's Cross relate to elements in his other architectural works and subtly hint towards his later designs such as the Glasgow School of Art.

The video has been fully captioned in English.
All proceeds (minus Eventbrite booking fee) go directly to supporting the work of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society which is an independent, non-profit making charity, established in 1973 to promote and encourage awareness of Scottish architect and designer.

The CRM Society has Charitable Status Reference No. SC012497. Registered in Scotland Company No. SC293107.
