About National Ensemble 2020: Once You See the Smoke - Digitally Reimagined

Scottish Youth Theatre’s National Ensemble, which was due to tour Scotland in July with Once You See the Smoke, their enquiry into climate justice, will now deliver a digitally re-imagined production.

This innovative live digital theatre show has been created in direct response to one of the biggest challenges facing our species. Working digitally from lock-down across Scotland, 20 talented and politically-minded young theatre artists, led by director Melanie Jordan have created a challenging and radically original piece of site-responsive theatre, accessible to everyone. With innovative use of the Zoom digital platform, unique choreography, original music, and sound composed by the acclaimed Patricia Panther, Once You See The Smoke is a challenging and radically original piece of site-responsive theatre for a world of digital platforms. Once You See The Smoke is free for all audiences.

The world is burning. It is flooding. There is drought, famine and pollution. Time is running out to deal with the climate emergency. Whilst catastrophe looms it is our young people fighting back, fighting for their future and for yours. Join Scottish Youth Theatre’s National Ensemble as they take on one of the greatest challenges of our time – climate justice – in a new production, Once You See the Smoke. The National Ensemble invite you to join the fight and forge a better, more just future for society.
