Call & Response: Reading and Writing the Alchemy of Black Imagination

About Call & Response: Reading and Writing the Alchemy of Black Imagination

close your eyes - make the white gaze disappear*

This event is for women (trans, intersex and cis) and non-binary people who are black/of African heritage, including people of mixed heritage.

“To imagine together as Black people is a revolutionary decolonising activity” - adrienne maree brown

In this workshop we will give attention to the imagination as a replenishing and provocative force that expands our capacity for joy; a source of power and information with which to examine the ways our world could be truly different.**

We will share readings from Uses of the Erotic (Audre Lorde) and Black Imagination (Natasha Marin) as our ‘call’ and conversation and writing exercises as our ‘response’.

No prior reading or special skills or knowledge required. This isn’t only for people who already think of themselves as writers or readers. Come as you are. You will just need a pen and paper.

This event is for women (trans, intersex and cis) and non-binary people who are black/of African heritage, including people of mixed heritage.
