The UK government’s road building programme includes some 4,000 miles of new road. It is by far the largest road building programme ever seen in the UK - bigger even than the infamous road building programme that sparked the anti-roads protests in the 1990s such as the Pollok Free State protest against the M77. New Roads cause 'Induced traffic' where overall journeys taken by car are proven to increase with each new road.
