Join Clara from A Library of Olfactive Material in Thinking About Scent.
Historically the materials and means of perfumery have been closely guarded industry secrets. The rise of the internet has provided invaluable knowledge sharing, and an increased level of access to materials. This has made it possible, for the first time, for a wider range of people to begin working with scent as a creative practice.
Scent is a powerful sense, and often in the process of working with it associations and memories can come up unexpectedly. This workshop will introduce participants to the science of scent and why it has such a powerful effect on us, as well as how to understand scent materials - either to work with creatively or simply to enjoy and consider.
We will smell three materials as a group, and learn about their origins as well as share thoughts, impressions and memories that come to mind.
Please note: You will need to purchase the scent pack with your ticket. These are available as 'Add-Ons' from Eventbrite, and are priced as pay-what-you-can, available at £0, £2.50, £5, £7.50 or £9.
About the workshop leader:
Clara Weale is a scent designer based in Glasgow. She works to connect people to this often overlooked sense, through participatory projects, installations and workshops. Clara is the Director of A Library of Olfactive Material, a resource for scent education, exploration and experimentation.
