Online weekly inclusive yoga classes for tweens and teens hosted on Zoom via The Wee Retreat. All welcome. Age 9+
This is a fun class, aimed at supporting their growth physically, emotionally and socially.
“I would recommend yoga because it is a great way to improve your fitness and health and to socialise! I really enjoy yoga, which has surprised me! It is a way to get away, relax and be Zen!”
“I have developed my flexibility in Debs’ class. It really has helped my balance and strength which has been great for my football. My favourite thing is doing Sun Salutations. Debs is really patient and she really knows what individual people need. She is a really understanding teacher and she gives praise. I was really shy but her praise and care made me want to come back again.” Jacob, 11 years.
Classes introduce breathwork & mindfulness with postures and relaxation.
Just some of the reasons tweens may enjoy and benefit from coming along:
• Its fun!
• Builds strength & flexibility
• Develops confidence & self esteem
• Improves balance & coordination
• Sharpens concentration
• Sparks creativity & imagination
• Supports better sleep
From help in sports, relationships, the classroom, and the home, yoga continuously supports growth and development.
Aside from the physical benefits of yoga, yoga teaches tweens and teens techniques for coping with the unique issues they’re faced with everyday—insecurity about their changing bodies, the enormous pressure to fit in, stressful schedules, and uncertainty about their beliefs and their futures.
Movement, and therefore yoga, is essential for fast-growing bodies. The practice of yoga offers adolescents a discipline for discovering who they truly are.
Beginning that process at a young age can shape who a young person becomes. It’s about nourishing their imagination, asking for their insights, and then genuinely listening to what they have to say.
