Nordoff Robbins and sponsors Specsavers have announced the full line-up for 2020’s virtual Specsavers Scottish Music Awards, bringing some of the country’s biggest stars together to raise urgent funds for Nordoff Robbins music therapy charity. Joining the line-up on 28th November for a special St. Andrew’s Day celebration are; Biffy Clyro, Dougie MacLean, George Bowie, Graeme Park’s Hacienda Classical Orchestra, Gun, HYYTS, Lewis Capaldi, Stephanie Cheape, Texas and Wet Wet Wet. They join the previously announced Amy Macdonald, kitti and Luke La Volpe.
Traditionally the biggest night in Scotland’s music calendar, the awards - now in their 22nd year - will be hosted live by Edith Bowman from SWG3 in Glasgow’s West End, featuring brand new performances filmed socially distanced and in line with Scottish Government regulations, as well as exclusive footage from previous sets. Tune in for a celebration of Scottish music from 7pm on Saturday 28th November via www.nordoff-robbins.org.uk/smas2020 or Nordoff Robbin’s Facebook and YouTube.
The country’s biggest musical stars will join forces to raise funds for the UK’s largest music therapy charity, Nordoff Robbins. Like many other charities, Nordoff Robbins have been severely impacted by Covid-19. Most of the charity’s fundraising events and activities have had to be cancelled or postponed this year – meaning they are currently expected to lose around 75% of fundraising income in 2020, contributing to an anticipated shortfall in revenue of £6million - all whilst still trying to provide music therapy to those who need it the most. In 2019, the charity reached nearly 12,000 people with music therapy, including children affected by learning difficulties learning to communicate, people living with dementia using music to reconnect with loved ones, or people affected by life limiting illness and more.
