A sold-out King Tut’s Summer Nights gig and high-profile support slots with Tom Grennan, Lewis Capaldi - at Edinburgh's Princes St Gardens no less - and The Snuts have propelled this 23 year old star-in the-making through the second half of 2019 and he’s determined to make the next 12 months count.
La Volpe (‘The Fox’ in Italian) sounds like no-one else. Deep and sonorous, dramatic and timeless, his voice will stop you dead in your tracks and sets him apart from the crowded field of ‘ones to watch’ for 2020. This guy is one to listen to over and over again.
Luke picked up Lewis’s King Tuts Songwriting Award for his absent friend at this year’s Scottish Music Awards and you sense that, just maybe, it was a practice run for recognition of his own talent ahead.
“Lewis’s success has been inspiring,” says Luke. “We used to sit and play songs together in my bedroom and imagine being able to do it for a living and look where he is now. This summer felt like things really started to happen for me, with the big support shows and some cracking headline gigs. I quit my job to be able to do this full time so there’s no going back now. I want to be on those big stages every night.”
Influential music website TENEMENT TV agrees that Luke is on the runway for success in 2020, including him in their TTV 2020 Vision list of 12 Scottish artists tipped for big things next year, alongside the likes of Joesef, Aaron Smith and Kitti.
Luke’s February headline tour is just the start for him in 2020. This fox is on the prowl. Don’t turn your back for a second.
