This month we are very happy to welcome Dr. Fabio Biancalana, Associate Professor at the School of Engineering & Physical Science, Institute of Photonics and Quantum Sciences, Heriot-Watt University who will be delivering our Tannahill Lecture on Black Holes: 100 Years of Mysteries.
Dr. Biancalana will describe the famous `Hawking radiation', the slow emission of energy by a black hole, which is allowed by the laws of quantum mechanics. This process is so important in modern physics that it has the potential to tell us something about the real constituents of spacetime. In the talk, he will also discuss various interesting and truly bizarre (but serious) topics at the forefront of black hole physics - the culmination of more than 100 years of research.
You will be able to access the lecture by Youtube stream (a link will be posted here, closer to the date) and there will be a Q&A afterwards for you to ask any burning questions.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Black Holes: A Hundred Years of Mysteries are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment. All information (whether in text or photographs) is given in good faith but should not be relied upon as being a statement of representation or fact.
